Each service works differently: Checkatrade, MyBuilder and Bark charge for introductions to customers, while Fettld takes and holds the customer’s payment for each stage in a deposit. For homeowners, Checkatrade offers a discretionary guarantee of up to £1,000 per approved claim for sub-standard work on jobs arranged through it, raised within 6 months of completion [11]. On Fettld, homeowners get the Fettld Promise.
Switching from Rated People?
Rated People Limited entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation on 16 September 2026 [12]. Checkatrade Group bought selected Rated People assets, including the brand and website, and Rated People says its memberships ended before the brand and website changed hands [13]. Questions about a past membership go to the liquidators, S&W, at ratedpeople@swgroup.com.
If your Rated People membership has ended, here’s how to carry on winning local work with Fettld:
- Join Fettld Pro free. No lead fees, no subscription and no contract.
- Check your ID in minutes. Didit checks your photo ID and a selfie video in the app. Then add your business details and insurance for our team to review.
- Add your profile links. Bring your reputation with you (see below).
Bring your reputation
Add links to your profiles on other sites, such as Rated People, Checkatrade, MyBuilder, Google, Trustpilot, TrustATrader or your own website. Once our team has checked a link, your rating and number of reviews from that site show on your Fettld profile as a verified badge. We don’t copy individual reviews across, and we can only check a link if the profile is still online.

Is Fettld really free for trades?
Yes, today. Joining and verification are free, there’s nothing to pay per lead, quote, shortlist or match, there’s no subscription, and the platform fee is 0%, so you’re paid the full stage amount. Standard payouts to your bank are free.
Will Fettld start charging?
If we ever introduce a fee, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice in the app and by email first. It will be shown before you send a quote and will never apply to jobs already agreed. That’s clause 7.5 of the trade agreement.
What do instant payouts cost?
Instant payouts are optional and are rolling out. When Get paid now is available on your account, after your first released payment, it costs 1% of the amount, with a minimum of 40p. Standard payouts stay free.
How do I cancel?
There’s no contract to end. Once your active jobs are finished, delete your account in the app under Profile, Account, Delete account. There’s nothing to pay out.
Can I bring my reviews from another site?
You can add links to your profiles on other sites, such as Checkatrade, MyBuilder, Rated People, Google, Trustpilot, TrustATrader or your own website. How long does verification take?
The Didit ID check, with your photo ID and a selfie video, takes a few minutes in the app. Our team then reviews your business details, insurance and any registrations you add.
